
Geiger, Valby Lead the Way at Mountain Dew Invitational

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Both the Florida Gators men's and women's cross country teams started off their seasons with a bang after placing first in the annual Mountain Dew Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The men's team collected 25 points in their 6k race after placing five Gators in the top 10. Freshman Ethan Geiger was the top Florida finisher as he placed third with a time of 18:32.3. Redshirt junior Nick Deal was right behind in fourth with a time of 18:36.3.
Sophomore Angel Vicioso finished in sixth place after running a time of 18:47.8. Rounding out the top 10 were freshman Reed Legg and redshirt sophomore Cavan Wilson, who placed ninth and 10th, respectively. Legg posted a time of 19:03.0, while Wilson recorded a time of 19:04.2.
The women's team also collected a first-place finish in the 4k with 25 points on the day as an impressive six runners landed in the top 10. Freshman Parker Valby was the top Florida finisher, placing second with a time of 13:44.9. Redshirt sophomore Pamela O'Brien and freshman Stephanie Ormsby both followed right behind as they finished in third and fourth, respectively. O'Brien recorded a time of 14:02.6 and Ormsby ran a 4k-time of 14:06.7.
Freshman Liina Winborn recorded a time of 14:23.9 to place seventh, while sophomore Emily Culley posted a time of 14:25.6 to finish in eighth. Junior Payton Capes-Davis rounded out the top 10 after running a 6k time of 14:28.6 to place 10th.
