Quotes from the Court
Head Coach Ryan Theis
…on what it is about the O'Connell Center that helps the Gators
"People just kept coming tonight. It was great to see the upper bowl, more and more just kept coming throughout. We're going to need more support in the quest for a championship, all these are huge so we need as many at home as we can get."
…on Kamryn Chaney's sixth-consecutive match with double-digit kills
"It's really hard to, and we saw this last year, it's really hard to score points at this level. The blocks try to stop you, the serve is putting pressure on you, there's good defenders behind it, so the ability to score is similar to basketball, right? Scoring the basketball isn't easy, can you do it? Kami certainly possesses the skills to do it and we need her to.
…on Alec Rothe's impact on the team
"She's been huge. She's thrown an All-American season together and I sure hope everybody sees it."
Third-Year MB Alec Rothe
…on her ability to communicate well with the team
"I think that when teams are team-led, they are much more successful. It's really important to me and the other girls on the team that we are saying the things that need to be said and acknowledging the good, but also making sure we're addressing the things we need to be improving on. When we're hearing feedback that's coming from your fellow teammates and not just your coaches, it's a lot more impactful because those are the people you're next to on the court."
…on the O'Dome's environment
"We have a really good flow here. We're comfortable here, we're familiar with this space, familiar with the atmosphere, our fans show up for us, our student section has been really good this year. There's a lot of factors that go into it, but it's the training leading up to the games every week that help us be successful regardless of where we're at."
