
No. 24 Gators Top Troy 4-0 In First Match of Friday Doubleheader

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Women's Tennis Team picked up a 4-0 win over visiting Troy Friday morning in the first match of a twin bill for the Gators. No. 24 Florida hosts Louisiana at 4 p.m. in the team's final match before the start of SEC play.
Doubles
The Gators made quick work of the Trojans to pick up the doubles point as Valery Gynina and Brooke Black blanked Sama Hindawy and Emilia Namsylo 6-0 at number two doubles, and Xinyi Nong and Nikola Daubnerova needed just eight games to top Valeria Avdeeva and Maria Guirguis 6-2 in the number one spot. India Houghton and Lucie Pawlak were leading 5-2 in their match at number three against Alexia Zarate and Leena Metwally when Nong and Daubnerova clinched the doubles point.
Singles
Florida also dispatched with Troy in relatively quick fashion on the singles side of the ledger winning each of the nine completed sets needed to seal the victory. Black was first in the win column as she upended Zarate 6-2, 6-1 at number four singles. Nong followed shortly thereafter with a 6-2, 6-0 decision over Hindawy at number five, while Daubnerova closed out the match at number six singles defeating Emilia Namyslo 6-3, 6-2.
Gynina was one game away from defeating Guirguis at number one singles when Daubnerova sealed the win, while Houghton and Gabia Paskauskas both led one set to none at numbers two and three singles respectively.
