The former Auburn Tiger joins the Gators for the 2026-27 season.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida men's swim & dive welcome Abdalla Youssef to the 2026-27 roster, head coach Anthony Nesty announced on Saturday.
Youssef was one of four swimmers to represent Auburn at the 2026 NCAA Championships, competing in four events for the Tigers (100 fly, 200 fly, 800 free and 400 medley relay). In his freshman season, Youssef earned All-American honors in each of the events he competed in. Named an honorable mention for his 100 fly, 800 free and 400 medley relay performances and was a first team All-American after making the finals for the 200 fly.
"Abdalla adds a strong competitive drive with valuable international and championship experience to our program," Nesty said. "We're excited to welcome him to the Gators and look forward to supporting his continued growth in and out of the pool. We can't wait to see what he will accomplish with our program."
Prior to collegiate swimming, Youseff represented his home country of Egypt in multiple World Aquatics Championships. He has represented Egypt in both the 20th and 21st World Aquatics Championships, where he broke the national record for the 200m butterfly with a time of 1:57.85.
Youssef joins the Gators' 2026-27 incoming class that includes incoming transfer David Johnston and freshman Santiago Alzate, Zoltan Bagi, Tai Pearson and Liam Smith.
Why Youssef chose the University of Florida:
"I chose the University of Florida because I've always liked the team culture and how everyone supports each other in the SEC and NCAA. Seeing the team push and motivate each other really inspired me. With the program's history and great coaches, it was an easy decision to make. The visit showed me that the environment will transform me to be the best version of myself being surrounded by likeminded teammates. My goal is to become a professional athlete and be part of something bigger than myself. I believe being part of this team will help me reach my biggest goal of becoming an Olympic champion."
