Gators Start Strong with NCAA Cuts and Top-Three Performances at Georgia Invite

ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 4/7 Florida men's and women's swimming and diving programs sit at the top of the leaderboard following day one of the 2025 Georgia Fall Invitational, held inside Gabrielsen Natatorium. The Gators combined for 11 NCAA qualifying times, which was highlighted by three top-three finishes in the 1,650-yard freestyle and three top-three performances in the 200-yard medley and 800-yard free relays.
Freshman Ahmed Jaouadi claimed Florida's only event title, finishing the 1,650y free in 14:39.10 to earn first with an NCAA cut and the No. 6 time in program history. Eric Brown secured third with a qualifying time of 14:54.31, while Gio Linscheer (14:55.67) and Luke Corey (15:02.01) both posted NCAA cut times in the mile as well.
On the women's side, redshirt sophomore Michaela Mattes recorded a qualying time of 15:56.85 in the 1,650y free to place second. Gators Julie Brousseau (16:12.05) and Camille DeBoer (16:22.02) also earned NCAA cuts in the event.
The women's 200y medley relay team of Catie Choate, Anita Bottazzo, Beatriz Bezerra and Addison Reese recorded a NCAA qualifying 1:35.93, marking the No. 9 time in program history. In the women's final event of the night, Brousseau, Lainy Kruger, Sylvia Statkevicius and Mattes earned second in the 800y free relay, finishing with an NCAA provisional mark of 7:02.03.
The men's 200y medley relay recorded a provisional time of 1:23.64, as Jonny Marshall, Aleksas Savickas, Scotty Buff and Devin Dilger placed fourth. The Gators 800y free relay team of Josh Liendo, Alexander Painter, Aiden Norman and Jaouadi placed second with an NCAA qualifying time of 6:12.51 to close out day one.
