GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida soccer secured its place in the Southeastern Conference Tournament with a 1-1 tie against Georgia Sunday afternoon at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
Zoe Main put the Gators ahead in the 21st minute, and Georgia's Kiera Staude scored the equalizer in the 86th. Florida entered the regular-season finale needing a win or tie to guarantee a tournament berth.
The result marked the fourth consecutive tie between the programs.
"Incredibly proud of the resiliency of this group," Florida Head Coach Nick Zimmerman said. "Created some really good chances."

How It Happened
With the morning rain showers largely giving way for the match, Florida found its breakthrough on a move that began at midfield.
Adia Symmonds connected with Tatum Borman in transition, and Borman carried the ball through the middle of Georgia's half before finding Main on the right. Main took a touch into the box and drove a right-footed, angled shot to the far post for the lead.
The goal was Main's sixth of the season, matching her collegiate season high for the third consecutive year. She now leads Florida with 19 points.
"She continues to put herself in really good spots. Zoe took that one really well," Zimmerman said.
Georgia pushed forward in search of an equalizer and found it with less than five minutes remaining. Staude collected a clearance attempt near the top of the box, took a couple of touches to her right and lifted a right-footed shot into the far corner.
Florida finished with a 14-10 advantage in shots. Georgia goalkeeper Jordan Brown made five saves.
