The Gators are ranked 17th in the nation this week, and are 13-6 overall. Their 8-5 record in SEC play has them alone in seventh place heading into the weekend. The top four teams in the league receive a double bye in the conference tournament, while seeds five through eight receive a single bye.
Florida appears fairly locked into first-round-bye territory as the Gators are two games back of Georgia and Texas in fourth place, and lost both matches to the Bulldogs and Longhorns this season. Florida is also two games ahead of Tennessee in ninth, and the Gators upended the Lady Vols 4-2 back in March.
The Gators' top doubles tandem of Nikola Daubnerova and Xinyi Nong moved up to 19th in the nation this week, and their 16 wins are tops on the team this season. Florida has four singles players currently ranked in the top 125 — Gabia Paskauskas (#57) at number three singles, Valery Gynina (#67) at two, India Houghton (#77) at one, and Nikola Daubnerova (#104) at six. Brooke Black and Lucie Pawlak at number four and five singles respectively both have seven conference wins this year which are tied for the most on the squad.
Vanderbilt enters the week with a 19-6 record including 9-4 in the SEC. The Commodores put together a five-match conference winning streak in early March, including a 4-2 win over No. 1 Georgia. More recently, they have won three of their last five matches, with the losses coming against No. 11 LSU 5-2, and No. 8 Oklahoma 4-3.
Four Vanderbilt singles players find themselves in the national rankings — Bridget Stammel (No. 6), Celia-Bella Mohr (No. 14), Valery Ray (No. 24), and Mia Yamakita (No. 121). Ray (24-12), Stammel (23-7) and Erin Pearce (20-7) give the 'Dores a trio of 20-win players on the season. On the doubles side of the ledger, Vanderbilt has two 20-win combos in Sophia Webster and Mohr (ranked 7th in the nation), and Ray and Stammel (No. 10).
Missouri is still in search of its first SEC win of the season, and travels to No. 4 Auburn on Friday. Gian Octa is 19-8 on the season and ranked No. 76 in the country, having played at number one through five singles at various times.
The Gators are 53-11 all-time against Vanderbilt but have lost the last two meetings between the teams. They are 11-1 vs. Missouri with the lone loss coming last season.
