Florida Volleyball Receives 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award

The award marks the eighth AVCA Team Academic Award in program history.
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Florida volleyball team has been recognized for its commitment to excellence on and off the court, earning the 2026 American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, the AVCA announced Thursday.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that display excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale. A total of 1,432 collegiate and high school volleyball teams earned the 2026 AVCA Team Academic Award.
The Gators' team GPA sat well above the required 3.30, as the squad posted a 3.44 GPA in the spring and a 3.47 cumulative GPA overall. This season's award marks the eighth in program history and the first since the 2023-24 season. Additional AVCA Team Academic Award honors for the Orange & Blue include 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2023-24.
Florida will open the regular season on Sunday, Aug. 30, when Stony Brook visits the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The Gators will also compete in Spikes Under the Lights on Thursday, Aug. 27, an exhibition event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, that features Nebraska, Penn State and Southern Methodist.
