Rothe’s .909 hitting percentage on Sunday is the best in the nation with a 10-attempt minimum.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Alec Rothe put on an offensive clinic Sunday, leading the Gators to a 3-0 rout of Troy (25-20, 25-14, 25-16) inside the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

The third-year middle blocker set the school record for hitting percentage in a single match with a minimum of 10 kills, posting a .909 mark (10-0-11) to surpass the previous record of .900, set by Chloe Mann against LSU on Nov. 11, 2011. Her mark also ranks atop the nation among performances with at least 10 attempts.

Brooklyn Briscoe led all players with a match-high 11 kills, while Logan King matched Rothe's 10. As a team, the Gators (7-1, 0-0 SEC) hit .489 with 48 kills, boosted by Taylor Parks' 36 of Florida's 44 assists. Parks also added two of the team's four service aces. Troy (2-4, 0-0 SBC) ended Sunday's competition with a .204 hitting percentage, 35 kills and 33 assists.

Defensively, Florida piled up 10 blocks, with Rothe's six blocks pacing the Orange & Blue. Lily Hayes tallied 18 digs, as UF held an advantage in both digs (37-29) and blocks (10-1). Sunday was the fourth time the Gators have recorded 10 or more blocks in a match this season.

The afternoon carried extra meaning as well, with Madi Gravlee making her first appearance on the court since November 2023, tallying a kill and two digs.

Isabella Ruether led the Trojans with 10 kills, while Olivia Kwiatkowski chipped in five kills and seven digs.

Set One - UF 25, Troy 20

Rothe was responsible for three of Florida's first four points behind two kills and a block assist
With a 10-9 lead, the Gators gained a bit of breathing room with a 3-0 spurt after consecutive block assists from King and Rothe, and Kira Hutson and Rothe.
Troy closed the gap to one point, 16-15, prior to a 4-1 run with kills from Kamryn Chaney and Rothe that helped UF pull away for the set victory, 25-20, off a Briscoe kill from an overpass.
The Gators recorded an elite .652 hitting percentage, led by five kills from Rothe and Parks' 14 assists.
UF recorded only one attack error on 23 swings.
Florida posted four total team blocks, led by Rothe's three blocks.

Set Two - UF 25, Troy 14

The Orange & Blue made sure set two was never in doubt, racing out to a 10-2 lead, capped off by back-to-back kills by Parks and Rothe.
Madi Gravlee made her first appearance for the Gators since Nov. 23, 2023, and recorded her first kill since Nov. 3, 2023, to give UF a 23-10 lead.
Florida's lead peaked at 13 en route to a 25-14 set win. The Gators were again strong on the offensive side of the net, hitting .441.
Rothe contributed four of UF's 17 kills, with Briscoe and Parks adding three each.
Lauren Harden posted her first kill of the 2026 campaign.

Set Three - UF 25, Troy 16

It was a back-and-forth affair through the midway point of the set, but the Gators were able to open up a three-point lead heading into the media timeout, 15-12, thanks to a trio of kills from King.
The Orange & Blue extended their lead to seven on the heels of a 5-0 run, boosted by kills from Briscoe, King and Parks.
Brianna Holladay made her first appearance in a Florida uniform and immediately made her presence known with a block assist on her first play and a kill on her second, which gave Parks the chance to rip an ace for the set and match.
Parks dished out 13 assists, including six to King, as the Gators hit .424 with 15 kills.
Hayes tallied 10 digs to lead the defensive effort, while Chaney and Rothe both added two blocks.
Troy was held to .175 hitting in the third frame.

"When you're 10-for-11, that's about as close to automatic as you're going to get. When she's in a rhythm and creating good space between her and Taylor [Parks], and again Taylor put some pretty good sets up there for her to take a rip at, she missed her maybe once or twice, but Alec [Rothe] made a nice tip to still find the floor. At one point I saw Troy shrug their shoulders like, 'what are we supposed to do,' and that's how you know Alec was feeling good."

Huge shoutout to my back row and Taylor Parks, my setter, she works really hard to put me in good positions and it's just so fun."

"One thing Ryan [Theis] talks about is our most important game is our next game. Our focus can't change, our presence on how we approach games can't change. We need to continue to be focused as a team, focused on the next opponent and take it one game at a time."
