WACO, Texas – No. 17 Florida volleyball was dominant on Saturday in the opening match of its Texas road trip, downing No. 20 Baylor in dominant fashion on the Bears' home court, 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 25-19).

With the victory, Florida (3-1, 0-0 SEC) recorded its first sweep of a top-25 team since defeating No. 5 Minnesota, 3-0, on Sept. 3, 2023.

Kamryn Chaney put on an offensive show, leading the Orange & Blue with 12 kills on the fifth-best hitting percentage in a match in school history of .786. Third-year Logan King tallied double-digit kills for the first time in her UF career with 10, hitting .500 to go along with two blocks. As a team Florida out-hit the Bears (4-1, 0-0 Big 12) .281-.041, recorded more kills (40-24), assists (37-22) and points (52-32). Taylor Parks was responsible for 32 of the 37 assists.

On the defensive side of the net, Lily Hayes put together an 18-dig performance for six-per-set, contributing to the 38-29 edge over BU. The two teams were even at the net, with six total team blocks each, as Brooklyn Briscoe, Chaney and Alec Rothe posted two each.

The Bears were led by Ksenia Rakhmanchik offensively with 12 kills and Mya Hemmer on defense with four blocks.

Set One - UF 25, Baylor 13

The Gators set the defensive tone from the first play, a block assist by Rothe and King, that contributed to a 4-0 start.
Baylor pulled within one, 6-5, before a quick 6-1 spurt, capped off by a Selena Leban service ace, extend the Florida lead to 12-6.
The Bears wouldn't get closer than six for the rest of the set, with the Gators' lead swelling to 12 as Briscoe put down the set point to give UF the set victory.
Defensively, the Orange & Blue were elite in the opening frame, holding Baylor to -0.120 hitting percentage helped by two blocks from both King and Rothe.
UF hit .481 with 15 kills, with Chaney and King both tallying five to lead the effort. Parks recorded 11 assists in the frame.

Set Two - UF 25, Baylor 23

After a slow start, kills by Rothe and Briscoe, and an ace from Hayes, pushed the Orange & Blue in front, 5-4.
The teams exchanged points up to the media timeout, when the Gators extended their lead to three off of a block from Briscoe and Leban, 15-12.
Baylor evened the set at 16, but Kira Hutson made an immediate impact as she subbed-in, recording a kill to end the run and adding an ace to put the Gators back out in front.
Florida continued to weather everything the Bears threw at them, with Baylor even reclaiming a lead late in the set at 20-19, before strong defense led to back-to-back attack errors to win the set.
The Gators posted three service aces in the second period from Hayes, Hutson and Leban.
Hayes ended with six digs to anchor the defensive effort.

Set Three - UF 25, Baylor 19

Hutson continued to make an impact on the match, recording a solo block to give UF a 5-2 advantage early.
Back-to-back kills by Briscoe, both assisted by Parks, forced a Baylor timeout with an 8-3 led.
The Gators wouldn't relinquish the lead, not allowing the Bears within four, while owning a largest lead of nine, en route to a 25-19 set and match victory.
The final exclamation point came from a Rothe swing and kill.
For the second time in the match, UF held Baylor to negative hitting at -0.029, while Florida recorded 14 assists on 15 kills. Chaney posted five kills and Parks notched 13 assists.

"My teammates encouraged me to be strategic when being aggressive today, whether that included swinging hard, doing a tip or a roll shot, but it kind of just depended on the situation. I took their encouragement as let me be aggressive, but also smart, and I felt really calm because I have a lot of trust in my teammates. They made me feel really good during the game, so that's how I played today."
