
No. 15 Men’s Tennis Opens SEC Play Against No. 30 Auburn and No. 33 Georgia

The Gators Men’s Tennis team heads on the road to open SEC play against No. 30 Auburn on Saturday, Feb. 21 and No. 33 Georgia on Monday, Feb. 23.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators Men's Tennis program enters SEC play ranked at No. 15, with their first opponents being No. 30 Auburn and No. 33 Georgia.
The Gators are 6-3 on their spring season so far, having faced some top ranked opponents along the way. The team's three losses come from FSU, then No. 9 UCF and then No. 6 Mississippi State. Some of their big wins include upsetting then No. 23 Kentucky and then No. 13 Columbia at Columbia during the ITA Kickoff Weekend for a spot at the ITA National Team Indoors. The Gators also defeated the previous No. 16 Clemson and made up for last season's loss to SMU with a 4-1 win over the Mustangs at the ITA National Indoors.
Five Gators hold a singles or doubles ranking assigned by the ITA. Henry Jefferson tops the singles rankings at No. 29, followed by Pablo Perez Ramos at No. 41, Jeremy Jin at No. 46 and Adhithya Ganesan at No. 93. In doubles Jefferson is ranked with two partners, where he is No. 10 with Tanapatt Nirundorn and No. 89 with Lorenzo Claverie.
Recapping ITA National Indoors
Although the team did not have the start they wanted at the ITA National Indoors, with a first round 1-4 loss to Mississippi State in Dallas, Texas. The Gators were able to bounce back with wins over then No. 16 Clemson and the tournament host SMU. A few standouts from the weekend include, Jefferson going 3-0 in singles on court two and 2-0 in doubles with Claverie on court one. Ramos also remained undefeated in the season, adding two more wins to his 8-0 dual season record. Kevin Edengren went 2-1 on the weekend, including clinching the match against then No. 16 Clemson.
Auburn Match Information
The Auburn Tigers are ranked at No. 30 entering SEC play with a 7-1 record, 5-0 at home. The Tigers have one ranked doubles pairing in No. 20 Billy Blaydes/Freddy Blaydes and has three ranked singles players with No. 56 Amirkhamza Nasridinov, No. 84 Manel Lazaro Juncadella and No. 86 Billy Blaydes.
Breakdown on the Bulldogs
The Georgia Bulldogs are 7-1 on the season, 5-0 at home and enter SEC play ranked at No. 33. The team consists of four ranked singles players (No. 30 William Jansen, No. 42 Arda Azkara, No. 60 Santiago Giamichelle and No. 77 Gabriele Vulpitta) and one ranked doubles pairing (No. 64 Arda Azkara/Santiago Giamichelle).
