GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No.3 Florida picked up a pair of wins on the final day of the Bubly Invitational with decisions over Syracuse, 8-2, and Florida A&M, 7-1, at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
In the first game against the Orange (4-9), the Gators (18-0) were led by strong performances from
Amanda Lorenz and
Kendyl Lindaman at the plate, while
Kelly Barnhill (9-0) and
Elizabeth Hightower combined for seven quality innings in the circle.
Offensively, Florida collected eight runs on eight hits as Lorenz contributed a pair to go with three runs scored and an RBI on a solo home run to start the game, which was Lorenz's fourth leadoff homerun this season. Lindaman continued her hot start to the season with a two-RBI single in the second inning and a groundout that scored another later in the sixth.
Barnhill contributed 4.2 innings of scoreless softball that included seven strikeouts, while she only allowed three hits en route to the win for her and the team.
In the second game of the day for UF against the Lady Rattlers (1-12), and the final game of the Bubly Invitational, the offense and defense continued to produce.
Danni Farley (2-0) was consistent against FAMU as she hurled five strikeouts through 6.2 innings and limited the opposition to just a pair of hits and run.
Offensively,
Jordan Roberts,
Jaimie Hoover and
Hannah Adams led the way for the Gators as the trio combined for five of the seven hits and runs in the game.
Overall, there was plenty to be proud of for the Gators at the Bubly Invitational. One of the most notable being the .353 average at the plate and 44 runs scored over the six-game span.
