GAINESVILLE, Fla. – No. 5 Florida welcomes No. 13 LSU to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for a three-game SEC series this Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 5 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. (ET). Saturday's contest will be featured on ESPN, while Friday and Sunday's games will stream live on the SEC Network+.
Historically, the series between the Gators (21-3, 5-1 SEC) and the Tigers (18-8, 4-2 SEC) has been pretty much even as LSU holds the slight edge in the all-time standings 35-32 and 13-13 when playing at KSP Stadium. However, under the leadership of head coach
Tim Walton, UF holds a 25-14 record since the 2006 season.
Florida enters the weekend series after it fell in a midweek matchup with No. 22 UCF in Orlando. The Knights won, 8-6, in comeback fashion as they scored three unanswered in the bottom of the 7
th inning.
LSU was scheduled to take on South Alabama in a midweek contest prior to this weekend's series, but inclement weather forced the two teams to cancel the matchup.
In SEC action, the Gators have won both series matchups with then-ranked No. 9 Kentucky, 2-1, and swept the series with Mississippi State in shutout fashion. The Tigers have also won both of their conference series to start the season as they went 2-1 at then-ranked No. 22 Tennessee and 2-1 with Texas A&M.
Staying within SEC play, the Gators boast the leagues best ERA (0.83) and second-best batting average (.278), while LSU ranks third in ERA (1.54) and eighth in batting average (.222). However, both Florida and LSU are tied for the most runs scored in league action with 27.
This Saturday will mark the program's fifth annual "Yellow Game," in which the Gators honor children who are battling cancer and remember those who lost their fights. Yellow represents the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation's efforts to fund research and eliminate childhood cancer.Â
