FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The eighth-ranked Florida softball team dropped the series finale, 14-1 (5 innings), to No. 12 Arkansas early Sunday afternoon at Bogle Park.
The Gators (23-7, 3-3 SEC) and the Razorbacks (24-9, 5-4 SEC) squared-off in the rubber match which saw
Elizabeth Hightower (10-4) go up against UA's Chenise Delce (13-5). Delce picked up the victory in the circle with a complete-game effort.
Arkansas took the lead early 3-0 after back-to-back walks was followed with a three-run home run to left field by Rylin Hedgecock.
Reagan Walsh gave Florida its first hit of the game in the top of the 2
nd inning with a leadoff single to center field, but Delce dug in to retire the next three batters.
The Razorbacks added four runs in the 2
nd inning and five more in the 3
rd inning off the UF pitching staff to take a 12-0 lead before
Skylar Wallace launched her eighth home run of the season in the top of the 4
th inning to put Florida on the scoreboard and close down the lead to 12-1.
Arkansas added two more in the bottom of the 4
th inning to conclude the scoring for the day and push its lead out to 14-1. Â
The Gators return home to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for a solo midweek game against Stetson at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+.
