Gators Conclude Florida Invitational Undefeated in Singles

The Gators finish 9-0 in singles at the Florida Invitational. 
GAINESVILLE, Fla.- The Florida women's tennis team wrapped up the Florida Invitational on Sunday afternoon. Overall, the Gators found success in singles action, going undefeated throughout the weekend.

The doubles competition presented a challenging start for Florida, as they faced tough competition on both courts.

Alicia Dudeney and Talia Neilson-Gatenby faced Florida State duo Maelie Monfils and Kristyna Lavickova on court one. The FSU pair got into a rhythm quickly and left little room for a Gator comeback. Dudeney and Neilson-Gatenby fell to the Seminoles, 6-1.

Court two featured a closer battle as freshmen pair Noémie Oliveras and Nikola Daubnerova battled USF duo, Melisa Senli and Dharani Niroshan. The Gators and pushed the set to its limits, but the USF pair came out on top, claiming a narrow 7-5 match victory.

Going into singles, Dudeney set the tone on court one with a dominant, straight-set victory over Senli of USF. Dudeney's control led to a solid 6-3 win in the first set and the senior maintained that momentum in second with a 6-2 showing to secure the victory.

Neilson-Gatenby faced a hard-fought battle on court two, edging out USF's Charlotte Rudd in a tight first set that ended in a 7-5 tiebreak. Building on her rhythm, Neilson-Gatenby cruised through the second set with a 6-1 finish, sealing the match.

Daubnerova dropped her first set, 6-3, to Monfils of FSU. After regrouping in the second, Daubnerova claimed the set, 6-2. In the deciding tiebreak, Daubnerova remained focused and closed out the match with a 10-6 victory.

Oliveras delivered one of the most impressive performances of the day. The freshman faced Sienna Leeson from USF on court four and recorded a straight-set victory. Oliveras overwhelmed Leeson in the first set, taking it 6-1. Oliveras continued to command the court in the second set, finishing the match with a 6-2 win.

Bente Spee secure the sweep for the Gators on court five with the final victory over Karine Kulidjian of USF. Spee earned a 6-3 win in the opening set and claimed the second set, 6-2.
