Florida Welcomes Jacksonville & Stetson For Midweek Matchups

First pitch is set for 6 p.m. for both games on SEC Network+.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 3/2 Florida softball team will welcome Jacksonville and Stetson to Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium for a pair of back-to-back in-state midweek match ups on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Florida (6-0) is coming off an undefeated first week of competition, tallying wins against North Florida, Illinois State, RV/No. 22 Michigan, USF, Delaware and Georgia Southern.

The Gators outscored their first six opponents 53-8, hitting .392 as a team. Seven different Florida players hit a combined 13 home runs, including five from reigning SEC Co-Freshman of the Week Taylor Shumaker alone.

In the circle, Keagan Rothrock (3-0), Ava Brown (2-0) and Kara Hammock (1-0) each picked up victories, allowing just seven earned runs in 35 innings pitched as a staff.

Brown and Rothrock each twirled back-to-back complete-game shutouts against Georgia Southern and USF, respectively.

It was the fifth of Brown's career and seventh for Rothrock.

  • Senior Reagan Walsh now sits in a tie for No. 8 with former teammate Skylar Wallace in Florida program career RBI (178) and is just one home run shy of moving into the top-10 in the category. She ranks No. 2 of active players in the NCAA in career RBI
  • Taylor Shumaker earned Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week honors on Monday, the first weekly honors of her career. It's the 32nd SEC Freshman of the Week honor in Florida program history
  • Shumaker is currently tied for most home runs hit in the nation with Jessie Shipley from UNCG. She is also the only player in the NCAA to have two multi-home run games
