
No. 20 Gators Men’s Tennis Back On the Road Against Alabama and Tennessee

The Gators Men’s Tennis team is back on the road with matches against the University of Alabama and the University of Tennessee.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida plays two matches on the road this weekend against Alabama and Tennessee. The Gators will face the Crimson Tide on Friday, March 20 at 2 p.m. EST and will take on the Tennessee Volunteers at 11 a.m. EST.
Florida ranks at No. 20 by the ITA this week with four singles and one doubles pairing being ranked for the Orange and Blue. Pablo Perez Ramos leads the rankings at No. 45, with Henry Jefferson following at No. 59, Adhithya Ganesan at No. 72 and Jeremy Jin at No. 91. The loan doubles pairing ranked is Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn at No. 22.
Recapping the Weekend
The Gators went 2-1 last weekend with wins over then No. 23 Ole Miss and North Florida, but dropped one to then No. 7 Mississippi State. The team's doubles performance was perfect over the weekend, three for three in doubles points earned. This was especially crucial in the match against Mississippi State where Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini got their highest ranked win of the season over No. 38 Bryan Hernandez Cortes and Robert Ferrer Guimaraes on court three, and on court two Henry Jefferson and Jeremy Jin won their first ranked match of the season together over No. 72 Mario Martinez Serrano and Michal Novansky.
Edengren and Timini went 3-0 in doubles this weekend, while Lorenzo Claverie and Andreas Timini went 2-0 in singles for the Gators with Claverie earning a ranked win over No. 39 Mario Martinez Serrano (Mississippi State).

Alabama ranks at No. 41 by the ITA after a win against Kentucky and a loss to Tennessee over the weekend. The Crimson Tide matches the Gators record of 9-9 this season, but is 3-4 in conference play. Their three conference wins come against Kentucky and Georgia on the road and Arkansas at their home courts. Alabama holds three players ranked in singles by the ITA (No. 79 Vit Kalina, No. Matic Kriznik and No. 109 Andrii Zimnokh) and has one doubles pairing ranked in the top 50 in No. 33 Andrii Zimnokh and Vit Kalina. The Crimson Tide holds a 22-46 record against the Gators, with the two teams' last meeting resulting in a win for the Gators.

Tennessee enters the matchup with the Gators ranked at No. 48 by the ITA with a 9-11 record for the season and is 1-7 in conference play with their one win coming against Alabama on their home courts.
