Theresa Bragg, Kaitlyn Davies, Frannie Hahn and Jenny Woodings earned the Big 12 players of the week honors for the Gators
GAINEVILLE, Fla. Theresa Bragg, Kaitlyn Davies, Frannie Hahn and Jenny Woodings all earned Big 12 players of the week following their performances in the Gators 19-6 win over UC Davis in the regular season finale, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
Bragg was named defender of the week, Davies earned midfielder of the week, Hahn earned attacker of the week and Woodings earned draw specialists of the week. This is the tenth straight week that the Orange and Blue earned at least one Big 12 player of the week honor, and the four honors this week is the most earned by Gators in a week this season.
Theresa Bragg
This is Bragg's fifth, and third straight, Big 12 defender of the week honor this season. Against UC Davis, Bragg registered three ground balls, which co-led the Gators, and caused two turnovers, which was the second highest total for the Gators against the Aggies. Bragg was able to hold UC Davis' leading scorer Jane Fox to 0 points on the day, Fox's first game this season where she didn't register a point. This was Bragg's sixth game with multiple ground balls and fifth game with multiple caused turnovers.
Kaitlyn Davies
This is Davies' second Big 12 midfielder of the week honor this season, with her first coming on April 15. Davies commanded both ends of the field in Florida's 19-6 win over UC Davis. On offense, The Wayne, N.J. native finished with six points (4 G/2 A), a career high and co-led the Gators alongside Frannie Hahn. Davie's first goal of the day gave her 100 career points, making her the 28th player in program history to surpass 100 career points. On the defensive end, Davies caused a season high four turnovers and got two ground balls, helping the defense hold UC Davis to just six goals on the day.
Frannie Hahn
This is Hahn's first Big 12 weekly honor this season and her fourth of her career. Against UC Davis, the Cantonsville, Md. native put up five goals and one assist, which is a season high for goals in a game for the redshirt sophomore. Her six points, which co-led the team with Kaitlyn Davies, are also her fifth straight game with at least four points and 10th game this season with at least four points. Hahn has also recorded a point in every game this season so far. Hahn's six-point day propelled the Gators to a big 13-goal win and extend their win streak to 11 games.
Jenny Woodings
This is Woodings first Big 12 weekly honor of the season and first conference player of the week honor of her career. Against UC Davis Woodings played a crucial role in Gators 19-6 win, driving offensive possessions through her dominance on the draw. The Pittsburgh, Pa. led the team to a 16–10 advantage in draw controls, securing 12 of those wins individually, which set a new career high and became the 14th player in program history to register at least 12 draw controls in a game. On the season, Woodings has now recorded more than five draw controls in seven games this season.
The Gators are back in action on Wednesday, April 30th when they take on the No. 4 seed UC Davis in the Big 12 Lacrosse Tournament at 4 p.m. at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.
