No. 5 Gators Fall 8-6 to No. 15 Colorado in Big 12 Tournament Championship Game

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 5/4 Florida Lacrosse Team (15-3) fell in the Big 12 Tournament Championship game 8-6 to No. 15/14 Colorado (14-3) at Donald R. Dizney Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Gators were led by Boo DeWitt's three points (2 G/ 1A) and Clark Hamilton's two goals. Goalkeeper Susan Radebaugh made 8 saves in 58:21 minutes of action.
Theresa Brag, Sam Hughes, Kaitlyn Davies, and Susan Radebaugh earned Big 12 All-Tournament honors following their performances during their tournament.
The Buffaloes were led by Maddie Shoup's four goals and Rowant Edson's two goals.

How It Happened
First Quarter (Gators 2, Buffaloes 1)
- After a nearly three-hour rain delay that delayed the start time to 2:45, Kaitlyn Davies would open the scoring at 11:13, burying a Boo DeWitt pass.
- Colorado's Maddie Shoup (9:32) would respond under two minutes later to tie the game 1-1.
- More than nine minutes would pass before Boo DeWitt would score her first of the day at 1:02 and give the Gators a 2-1 lead going into the second quarter.
Second Quarter (Buffaloes 5, Gators 3)
- After a both teams would start the second frame with back-and-forth chances, Colorado would get the first two goals of the second quarter, as Rowan Edson (9:43) and Teagan Ryan (5:27) scored to give Colorado their first lead of the day at 3-2
- Boo DeWitt's second goal of the day for the Gators came at 3:28 would tie the game at 3-3
- Colorado would get goals from Rowan Edson (2:47) and Maddie Shoup (00:09) to end the first half up 5-3
Third Quarter (Buffaloes 7, Gators 4)
- The Gators would get the first goal of the second quarter, as a fast break from Theresa Bragg would lead to a Clark Hamilton goal at 10:41, with Bragg getting the assist, her first of the season.
- Colorado would extend their lead to three goals after Maddie Shoup (7:19, 4:59) scored twice to end the third quarter and give the Buffs a 7-4 lead
Fourth Quarter (Buffaloes 8, Gators 6)
- Clark Hamilton would cut the Gators' deficit to 7-5 with her goal at 10:00 to open the fourth quarter.
- Lily Assini would score her first the day at 4:59 to give Colorado an 8-5 lead.
- Caroline Hoskins would keep the Gators in it with her goal at 3:24 to make it 8-6, but a save from Elena Oh on a shot from Clark Hamilton at 2:12, followed by a successful clear would allow Colorado to hold on and win 8-6
- Theresa Bragg's assist on Clark Hamilton's goal in the third quarter is her first assist of the season, and her first since Feb. 17, 2024 when the Gators played North Carolina.
- The 14 combined goals are the least number of goals in a Gator's game since March 6, 2016 when the Gators beat Stony Brook by a score of 7-6.
- The 8 goals give up in the loss are the least number of goals given up in a Gators loss since May 5, 2013, when the Gators fell to Northwestern in the ALC Tournament Finals.
- This is the first time since 2013 that the Gators haven't won the conference tournament, which is also the last time Florida Lacrosse did not win conference tournament after winning the regular season conference championship.
- The Gators are now 28-4 all-time in conference tournament games, 37-1 against teams currently in Big 12, and 13-1 in Big 12 play across regular season and post season play.
