No. 5 Gators Clinch Piece of Big 12 Championship With 16-5 Win Over Cincinnati

This is the Gator’s 14th conference championship and their third in a row
CINCINNATI, Ohio – The No. 5/5 Florida Lacrosse team (13-2, 3-0) downed the Cincinnati Bearcats (8-8, 0-4), 16-5 on Saturday afternoon to clinch a share of the Big 12 championship and extend their win streak to 10 games.
The Gators had 11 players register a point as they were led by Boo DeWitt's four goals and Frannie Hahn's four points (2 G/2 A) as Autumn Blair (2 G/1 A) and Caroline Hoskins each put up two goals and one assist.
Cincinnati had three players put up two points as Lexie Wolfe (2 G), Paige Selhorn (1 G/1 A), and Paige Counts (1 G/1 A) led the Bearcats

How it Happened
First Quarter (Gators 5, Bearcats 2)
- Frannie Hahn would start the scoring for the Gators, getting her first of the day at 10:56.
- Florida would score four goals in just over four minutes with Boo DeWitt (9:29), Autumn Blair (7:45), Kaitlyn Davies (6:49), and Caroline Hoskins (5:10) scoring, to take a 5-0 lead.
- Lexi Wolfe (4:34) and Hailey Joy Simpson (1:12) got the Bearcats on the board and cut the Gators lead to 5-2 at the end of the first 15 minutes
Second Quarter (Gators 7, Bearcats 3)
- The second quarter would only see a combined three goals for both teams, as Boo DeWitt (8:20) and Autumn Blair (2:06) scored for Gators and Paige Selhorn got her first of the day at 7:37 and UF would take a 7-3 lead into the break.
Third Quarter (Gators 12, Bearcats 3)
- The Orange and Blue would come out dominating the third quarter, as Boo DeWitt her third of the day just 33 seconds in the third Quarter.
- After nearly ten minutes with out a goal by either team, Clark Hamilton would find the back of the net for her first of the day at 4:06.
- The Gators would keep pouring them in from there, getting goals from Kaitlyn Davies (3:11), Ava Kristynik (1:34) and Caroline Hoskins (00:33) to extend their lead to 12-3.
- THe third quarter saw the Gators out shoot (12-4) the Bearcats, as well win more ground balls (5-1) and more draw controls (4-2).
Fourth Quarter (Gators 16, Bearcats 5)
- Boo Dewitt would deposit her fourth goal of day in the back of net off an Autumn Blair assist at 11:22 to extend the Gators lead to 13-3,
- Lexi Wolfe would get Cincinnati their first goal in 27:32 minutes to cut the lead to 13-4
- Frannie Hahn's goal at 8:43 would extend the Gator's lead back to 10 goals, as Kennedy Richardson and Ryann Frechette would add to more to make it 16-4
- Cincinnati's Paige Counts would get the final goal of the game to make it a final score of 16-5 Florida
Key Notes
- This Gators clinched at least a share of the Big 12 championship with today's win. This is the program's 14 conference championship (ALC: 2011, '12, '13, '14, BIG EAST: '15, '16, '17, '18, American: '19, '21, '22, '24, Big 12: '25, '26) and their third straight.
- Two Gators moved on the cusp of career milestones, as Kaitlyn Davies' two goals against Cincinnati moved her one point away from 100 career points. Boo DeWitt's four goals moved her to 30 points on the season, tying her career high set in 2023 during her time at Dartmouth.
- Jenny Woodings was able to win seven draw controls for the Gator's today, which is her sixth game of the season winning at least five draw controls
- Florida was able to hold Cincinnati scoreless for 27:32 minutes, including holding them scoreless in the third quarter. This is the fifth game that the Gators have been able to shutout a team in a quarter, and the second longest time they've held a team scoreless, just behind the 28:23 minutes they held San Diego State scoreless.
- The Florida defense was able to hold Cincinnati's Paige Selhorn to two points, who entered the game averaging 5.87 points per game, which was sixth in the NCAA.
- Florida's 37 shots in today's game makes it the third straight game where the Gators have fired at least 30 shots, and the 10th game with at least 30 shots.
- 27 of those shots made it on goal, which is the fourth straight game with at least 20 shots on goal and the 12th game of the season with at least 20 shots on goal.
- The Gators moved to 15-0 all-time against the Bearcats, and still have not given up 10 or more goals to the Bearcats.
