Ryan O'Hara

Ryan O'Hara

Ryan O'Hara enters his fourth season with the Gators after being named offensive analyst – quarterbacks ahead of the 2022 season. Prior to 2025, O'Hara was promoted to assistant coach/quarterbacks.

O'Hara, whose role focuses on the quarterbacks, spent four years (2018-21) at Louisiana. O’Hara helped lead the Ragin' Cajuns to four straight Sun Belt West Division titles, a share of the Sun Belt title in 2020 and 2021 Sun Belt Conference Champions.

In 2024, O’Hara helped true freshman quarterback DJ Lagway earn Freshman All-America honors from ESPN and PFF.

After taking over full-time when quarterback Graham Mertz was injured in the Tennessee game, Lagway became a sensation for the Gators, finishing 6-1 as a starter and 6-0 in games when he finished. The true freshman ended the season ranked second in the nation in yards per pass attempt (9.97), third in passing yards per completion (16.65) and ninth in passing efficiency (154.9).

Under O'Hara's guidance, both Anthony Richardson and Mertz have been selected in the NFL Draft. Richardson was taken fourth overall by the Indianapolis Colts in 2023, while Mertz was selected in the sixth round by the Houston Texans in 2025.

During his time at Louisiana, O'Hara contributed in the development of quarterback Levi Lewis, who was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championship Game MVP. Lewis became the first 3,000-yard passer in program history (3,050) and setting the single-season record for touchdown passes (26). Throwing for 2,274 yards and 19 touchdowns in 2020, Lewis entered his final season (2021) ranked second in career passing touchdowns (54), third in career passing yards (6,286) and fourth in career completions (485).

Prior to Louisiana, O'Hara made stops at Alabama A&M University (2016-17), where he served as offensive coordinator and coached the wide receivers. O'Hara also coached quarterbacks at Mt. San Antonio College and Santa Monica College (2013-15).

O'Hara was the starting quarterback at the University of Central Oklahoma for two seasons and led the program to Lone Star Conference North Champions in 2006 and was named all-conference the same season. He also attended the University of Arizona in 2003 and was the starting quarterback for the Wildcats and lettered in basketball.
