NO. 9 FLORIDA SHUTS OUT VANDERBILT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 9 ranked University of Florida (4-0, 2-0 SEC) soccer team received their second Southeastern Conference win of the season shutting out  Vanderbilt (3-3, 2-1 SEC) by the score of 3-0.  It is the third consecutive shutout of the season by the Gators. 
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 9 ranked University of Florida (4-0, 2-0 SEC) soccer team received their second Southeastern Conference win of the season shutting out  Vanderbilt (3-3, 2-1 SEC) by the score of 3-0.  It is the third consecutive shutout of the season by the Gators. 
 
The Gators got off to a quick start in the match when freshman midfielder Heather Mitts scored the first goal of her career  at 2:44 into the match when she made  a shot in traffic from eight yards out from the right side of the goal box.  The Gator scoring drive continued in the second half at 52:55 when sophomore forward Melissa Pini scored from 15 yards out off a deflection from fellow Gator forward Danielle Fotopoulos.  The Gators third goal would come two minutes later when Mitts scored her second goal of the match off a free kick 25 yards out.  The Gators finished the match with 16 shots on goal compared to Vanderbilt's seven.
 
Florida continues their schedule on the road when they face in-state opponent Central Florida Wednesday, Sept. 18.  The non-conference match takes place in Orlando, Fla. At 4 p.m. ET.
