GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A second-half goal by senior Sarah Yohe gave the No. 2 University of Florida soccer team a 1-0 win over No. 11 Wake Forest Friday evening in front of a Percy Beard crowd of 2,392. The win ups Florida's record to 10-0, while WFU drops to 7-2.

Yohe's goal, which places her in a tie for UF's consecutive matches with a goal record with her eighth consecutive, came at 54:01. Senior Heather Mitts served the ball from the right side, which was flicked by both Andi Sellers and Abby Wambach, before Yohe put it away with a six-yard shot from the left side.

"It was a good effort," UF Head Coach Becky Burleigh said. "After the first 25 minutes or so, we really picked it up. The last 20 minutes of the first half and the whole second half, I was pleased with the way we played. At halftime, we talked about that we had so many opportunities. We were going to get those opportunities if we kept the pressure on. We wanted to speed things up. There was too much cutting the ball back and not enough going north and south."

The match was scoreless in the opening half, with UF taking a 7-1 advantage in shots. The Gators' best first-half scoring chance, a header by Wambach off a corner kick, was saved off the line by WFU's Rachael Lewis at 21:17. For the match, UF outshot the Demon Deacons 28-6. UF's starting goalkeeper Regan Wiesemann (no saves) and Jordan Kellgren (two saves), who started the half, shared UF's fourth consecutive shutout win. WFU goalkeeper Erin Regan recorded 14 saves for the match.

The Gators returns to action Sunday, Oct. 3 when they play host to Florida International at 2 p.m. Prior to the match, the UF team will hold a Youth Clinic, starting at noon at the Percy Beard Stadium. The clinic is free and open to children in eighth grade or younger.
