Florida Faces Georgia Monday

Two long-time Southeastern Conference rivals - Florida and Georgia - meet Monday at Atlanta's Georgia Soccer Park.
Update: This match shifts from Sunday to Monday due to anticipated weather in Atlanta area on Sunday.

GAINESVILLE, FLA. – A pair of long-time league rivals meet Monday when Florida soccer faces Georgia in Atlanta, Ga.
 
When the two teams met for Southeastern Conference regular-season action on Sept. 27, 2020 in Gainesville, it was a 1-1 double overtime tie.

Florida's Last Outing:
Florida is coming off a 2-0 win Wednesday over previously unbeaten North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. Two Gators were part of both goals – freshman Beata Olsson and senior Madison Alexander. The first goal came in the 75th minute when Alexander used her outstretched foot to touch the ball forward to Olsson making a left side run. Olsson just beat the UNF goalkeeper to get the scoring touch from 10 yards. In the 86th minute, freshman Maddy Rhodes' had options with Alexander and Olsson in the box. Alexander got a touch on Rhodes' cross and Olsson finished at the far post for her second double-goal match of the spring.
 
The shutout was Florida's second of the spring and the 10th of Gator goalkeeper Susi Espinoza's career.

About Georgia:
Sunday's match is Georgia's fifth of the spring. The Bulldogs opened on Feb. 25 with a 2-1 home win over Kennesaw State and is coming off a 3-1 loss at Clemson on March 20. Florida is the final SEC opponent for UGA this spring. Georgia lost 3-1 to Mississippi in Montevallo, Ala., on March 6 and dropped a 1-0 decision at Auburn on March 13.
 
Senior Mollie Belisle leads UGA in 2020-21 with 10 points off four goals and two assists. Junior goalkeeper Emory Wegener has played the entirety of all but one match for UGA this season and owns a goals-against-average of 1.40.
 
Billy Lesesne is in his sixth as Georgia's head coach.
