Gators Head to D.C. for First League Road Game April 9

Florida will visit Georgetown for a noon clash Saturday at Cooper Field on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- After enjoying a five-game home stand, the No. 2 Gators will head to Washington, D.C., this weekend for their first conference road swing. Florida visits Georgetown (3-7, 1-0 BE) Saturday for a noon clash at Cooper Field on the BIG EAST Digital Network, with Ryan Sakamoto and Dave McHugh on the call.
The Gators, tied for first with UConn at the top of the league standings, improved to 11-1 on the season, 2-0 in league play, by gutting out a 10-9 victory against Temple April 2. The Orange and Blue showed grittiness yet again, improving to 5-0 this season in one-goal games. Florida fell behind by one goal in the first period against the Temple Owls Saturday, but went on to win their sixth game after facing a deficit this season.
Florida is two wins shy of tying their best start in program history (13-1 in 2013).
Georgetown (3-7), opened conference play last Saturday with a 7-5 road win at Vanderbilt. Likewise, the Gators also opened BE play with Vandy March 26, defeating the Dores 16-2 at home before notching their second league win against the Owls. Florida is 3-1 all-time against Georgetown, and has won the past three meetings between the Gators and Hoyas. UF is 1-0 on Hoya turf in DC. UF and Georgetown have common non-conference opponents in Maryland, Towson and Loyola. While Florida went 3-0 against those ranked squads, Georgetown was 0-3.
The Hoyas score 8.30 goals per game, compared to UF's 12.83, and are led by senior Kristen Bandos, who boasts 18 goals, 20 points and a dominating 26 draw controls on the season. In goal, junior Maddy Fisher (2-6) has earned eight decisions, senior Megan McDonald (1-1) two for Georgetown. The duo has 65 saves and a .374 save percentage.
Florida enters Saturday's game ranked 11th in the nation in scoring margin (5.00), 18th in the country in save percentage (.478), 19th in scoring offense (12.83) and 20th in scoring defense (7.83). The Gators check in 18th in the NCAA in points per game (18.17), 23rd in ground balls (18.67), 24th in assists (5.33) and 55th in caused turnovers per game (8.17). UF
